Why Help
The World of Children
Children aged 15 and under comprise one-third of our world’s six billion people. In developing countries, children make up nearly half the population. For many children in American and in developed countries around the world, the future looks bright. Their education is secure. Their health is usually sound, and doctors are rarely more than a phone call away. Technology promises to bring them to greater achievements than we ever dream.
But what about children whose daily needs are not being met? What issues face children challenged by poverty? About 300 million of the world’s children are orphaned or homeless. Nearly 360 million of the world’s children are trapped in illiteracy, with little hope of staying in school long enough to change that-if they have access to school to begin with. It is estimated that there are 250 million children working in the world, 120 million of them laboring full time. They attend school only sporadically, if at all. As we enter the new millennium, between four and five million children are infected with HIV-the majority of them from their mothers. Tens of millions of children, mostly impoverished, have lost one or both parents to AIDS. Today worldwide, nearly 80 percent of children never hear or have the opportunity to respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
These children will become tomorrow’s parents. If we invest in them, they also can become tomorrow’s community leaders, health workers, teachers, pastors, and business people. If ignored, many will die as they live-victims of poverty and practitioners of anything at takes to survive.
"Doing Your Best To Serve The Lord"
It has been humbling to look back on my ministry and see how the Lord has chosen to use MCH-Africa to exhort others. Testimonies of parents reflect my desire to do "my utmost for His highest." What Paul shares in Colossians 3:23-24 continues to impact me: "Whatever your do, work at it with all your heart…since it is the Lord Christ you are serving." That's why I believe that we can't afford to be complacent about ministering to others – for in serving them, we are serving Jesus.
A Heart Full Of Compassion
Iwant you to understand that mere words mean nothing unless they are accompanied with Godly action. Whether you believe it or not, it is true that on the average 40,000 children die each day on our planet due to easily solved malnutrition problems. In the song I ask if we would be willing to risk all we have to see just one of them saved.
Through my friends as Children's Medical Missions-Ghana, we can each get involved with helping at least one child without major risk. This 3-year-old ministry enables us to help needy kids one by one in the Third World.
We have seen first hand what Christian love and commitment can do to change the course of children's' live!
Children's Medical missions-Ghana proven programs help a young generation to break out of the deadly cycle of physical, educational and spiritual poverty which chokes the life out of hundreds of thousands of their countrymen daily. For just 70 cents a day ($21 monthly donation) sponsored children learn about Jesus and receive needed food, medical care and educational training. These skills and life essentials become the building blocks of the future!
You Can Save One More Life
If your heart is touched by the suffering and desperation of those who are less fortunate, you can do something right now that will bring hope and opportunity for real growth and change. You can save one more life by choosing to sponsor a child through MCH-Africa.
You won't just be writing a check. As a MCH Africa sponsor, you'll receive your child's photo and personal story, along with information about options for communicating through occasional cards, letters and small gifts. You can also support your child through prayer, knowing that the love you share helps that special young one to experience the love God in a very personal way.
Doing Your Best to Serve Him
Simply fill out the attached form, and MCH Africa will send you a photo and information about one boy or girl you could help. Then, if you choose to accept, you send your first check to MCH Africa in the envelope they provide.
It's a big world with needs bigger than we can comprehend. But, believe me, doing the best we can and doing it with all of your heart makes an eternal difference. And what can be better knowing that each gift of our honors and serves our Lord? Will you do your utmost for His highest to help one God's children?
Thank you for prayerfully considering this request.
